Let's keep Austin wired

Couldn't leave the Austin subject for now without a farewell note to remark that it was a very rewarding experience, intense, AND so intensive! Time was the only scarce resource, indeed.
So beware if you consider visiting or spending a full semester in Austin, there'll always be weird things to experiment, an authentic excess if you catch up with SXSW, too ;]
Meanwhile, count me in on keeping the connection!

"Diasporadic" encounters

Not only Zach was at SXSW after Ars Electronica, Teddy Ruge was also around, from Dallas. What a nice coincidence, an opportunity to deepen previous conversations on mobile applications in Africa, the Project Diaspora, and to get to know the co-founder, Tracy Pell – who's also in my heart now :). It was interesting to realize that the three of us have the same communication design backgound... :)))
I was sorry that I couldn't attend to his panel on Africa 3.0 (Sunday 9:30 am?!), so for now I stick to this comprehensive Diaspora blog post "Africa 3.0: Mobile connectivity in the (global) village" and, luckily, I'll be able to access it online at the SXSW YouTube channel later on :)

I just met Stacey Monk too, she's the founder of Epic Change, and I really appreciate that positive change through social media approach in Tanzania that I could get a glimpse on The Twitter Kids of Tanzania workshop.

Sporadically or not, we will all meet again, for sure!

:O

: the always surprising mouth opening desired effect with OpenFrameworks:

Zachary Lieberman and Todd Vanderlin were at SXSW to present the open source c++ library in a Design & Development panel: OpenFrameworks - A Powerful Creative Coding Library for Artists.
We could meet and talk about Porto's encounter during Olhares de Outono 2007 and Ars Electronica 2008, and about using OF for the RTiVISS real-time video to be processed in real-time with the ofxVideoStream addon that Pedro Ângelo is now working on. Zach is reminded of Pedro, especially for his active participation in the forum and contribution to the wiki, and is also looking forward to get to know about the addon developments.

To my PhD colleagues, I recommend a good look at this diagram, for it will be very useful as we get to this subject on Media Lab classes soon:
